eReader Girl

I have posted several times about Crystal at MoneySavingMom.com. She is now launching a new website, eReadergirl.com as a resource of free and discounted ebooks. There are other sites that feature either Kindle books or Nook books, this site will feature both.

Even if you don’t have a Kindle, you can download an app to be able to read them on your mobile phone, tablet, computer, etc.

The website is officially launching next week, but there are some books listed now. The ebooks are also categorized by different genres.

Ebooks may be offered for free for a limited time, so double check the price before completing the order to make sure it is still free or discounted.

I bought a Kindle Fire about a year ago and have read many free books. I have not paid for very many books. Before I bought the Fire I had been reading books on my laptop and phone with the free Kindle app.

I made Homemade Pizza Pockets today. I have never been fond of the taste of the frozen pizza pockets at the grocery store, so I was excited to try the homemade ones. I ended up with 16 pizza pockets. I had a little dough leftover when the filling ran out so I made a few smaller ones with melted butter, cinnamon and sugar. I ran the rim of a small plate around the edges to seal them.

Crystal also has a recipe for Ham and Cheese pockets.

This is part of Crystal’s 4 week freezer cooking series. I use freezer cooking to save time and money on groceries. It is less tempting to stop for something on the way home when I know I have something ready. I also take these items for lunch most days.

One way to save money is to be organized. Some ways being unorganized can cost you money are:
• If you don’t keep track of your bills that come in the mail, you may incur penalties and interest for late payments. Also, if you misplace checks before getting to the bank.
• If you put things in the same spot all the time, you could save time by not having to search for it. Or if you need to go buy an item you can’t find. You could have saved the money you spent on the replacement item.
• By having an organized fridge and pantry you know what leftover items and other items you have that can be used before they spoil. Also, you know what items you have on hand so you don’t spend money on buying duplicates of things you already have. It doesn’t save you much money if you buy items on sale but don’t use them before they expire.

Crystal from Money Saving Mom is doing a series on 4 weeks to a more organized home. Each day she will post the steps for that day and each evening she will post her progress from the day and have opportunities for you to post your progress also.

Each day, there is one main step to do if you are busy and can’t complete all of the steps for that day. The series started on Monday, April 2 and day 1 was to clean out your purse and day 2 was to clean out your refrigerator. Even if you can’t complete it now or keep up daily, it gives you ideas of ways to stay organized.

One of the websites I follow daily is MoneySavingMom.com. Today, Crystal published a guest post I had submitted about Saving by cooking as a single person.

Although the website is called moneysavingmom, I follow it daily and get numerous ideas and tips that I can use in my life. Crystal also posts many sales and deals that I have taken advantage of.

Even by saving a dollar or two here and there makes a difference.

In a previous post I mentioned an upcoming book by Crystal Paine from Money Saving Mom. Her publisher is offering a free chapter of her book on saving money on groceries without needing to use coupons.

With many people already having a full schedule and upcoming holiday activities and expenses can add to the usual stress. Crystal from Money Saving Mom has started a series on steps to take for a More Organized Christmas.

The first step is to create a budget, have a plan, use cash and keep it simple.

Even if you do not have time to implement some of these ideas this year, it may be helpful to keep them on hand and implement them in the upcoming years.

One of the ideas I have used for several years is to save money throughout the year for holiday expenses and look for gift ideas throughout the year when you find them on sale.

This is part of a 90 day Holiday Countdown, previous posts can be found here
