I have seen photos online about making designs on clear glass containers with rubberbands or twine and then painting. In the photo above, the shorter one is a salsa jar that I put rubberbands on and painted. The candle light shows through the clear parts of the glass. The taller one is a vase that I first painted blue and let it dry, then I put rubberbands on and painted it purple. You can’t see the difference as good as if you would use more contrasting colors. When I was buying the paint, I thought I had picked a different color.

You can also use plastic containers if you are using as vases. Thrift stores and dollar stores are a great place to find bottles and vases if you don’t have any.
