One way you may be able to cut your food expenses is to plan your meals in advance. Some people make a plan a week or a month in advance. By having a meal plan you can use up items you have on hand, buy ingredients when they are on sale and cut down on take out. If you have a plan and possibly a meal partially prepared, you can reduce the temptation of stopping for takeout or going out to eat. Some people make their menu plans around ingredients that are on sale or ingredients they already have.
