Many times we may purchase something when it is labeled as being on sale because we think we are getting a good deal. There was a segment on the a recent Today Show about prices being marked up at JCPenney stores and then marked down to look like you are getting a bargain. There have been stories about this also happening at other stores.

Even if you find items for a good price, it is important to consider if you will use it or really need it. I used to purchase some things just because they seemed like a good deal. This is especially important when shopping at dollar stores or thrift stores. On one blog, there was a story of a woman who spent a large of money over a period of time at dollar stores, a dollar at a time. A dollar may not seem like a lot but they can add up over time.
