Today is the 4th day of my 7-day book giveaway. I will randomly choose a name from the people who leave a comment on this post thru midnight.

Today’s book is The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas J. Stanley and William D. Danko. The book is based on studies the authors have done over the past 20 years on how people become wealthy. As stated in the introduction of the book, they discovered that many people who live in expensive homes and drive luxury cars do not actually have much wealth. And many people who have a great deal of wealth do not even live in upscale neighborhoods.

I have read many stories about people that are millionaires, but they do not live that way so people do not realize how much wealth they have. In some cases, their frugality is part of the reason that they have obtained wealth. Many millionaires have acquired their wealth on a moderate income.

Today, I have two copies of the book to give away. Please leave a comment below for a chance to win a copy of the book, The Millionaire Next Door. I will email the winner for their mailing address.

I will be replying to the post of the recipient of each day’s book and will list them in a post at the end of the week.

This book looks intriguing as we have many silent millionaires in North Dakota.

  3. I’ve seen a few factoids and excerpts cited from the book on investment sites. Seems contrary to what we learned growing up but I believe it. Just look at Warren Buffett’s life for an example. Would love to read the full book.

  4. Looks like it could be interesting

  5. This sounds very interesting! Thanks for posting!

  6. This book would be a very thoughtful read, as I am now reading ‘Billy the Kid, Beyond the Grave’ by W.C. Jameson, and would enjoy a comparison of the philosopy of money and values of that era to ours.

  7. Thanks for the post and giveaway, I hear it is a great read!

Sounds like a very interesting book. I have often wondered how people become millionaires, I have heard that some of the people who panhandle in the bigger cities are often very wealthy. Thanks and have a great day!
