One way people are using to save money is to participate in a Pantry Challenge. They try to go a month by using items in their pantry and freezer. They do buy some groceries, but try to limit trips to the store by using things they have on hand.

This will cut down on your bills and also help you use up items before they expire. If you use a menu planning system, you can take inventory of items in your cupboards and freezer and use it to make up your menu plan.

By limiting your trips to the store, you may also limit the temptation of impulse purchases.

  1. Sounds like a good idea although we do that somewhat every day. I DO have too much in my pantry that I am not using, as I guess everyone does. It is a temptation to buy those things that are a GOOD sale, especially meat. Since my husband loves meat, we check out the “reduced” meat section and can find great deals on expensive cuts of meat and generally use it right away.
